This document lists the known open issues for the eightolives RadioRemote web app.

Work in Process

The current version is a work-in-process. It is not complete and not all parts may be functional. Functionality is being incrementally included during development.

Can't turn radio on

The Elecraft KX3 can only be turned on electrically by applying an 8 Volt signal to the MIC's PTT input. No such control signal is available on a standard laptop or from the KXUSB cable. Options may include using another USB to serial cable that has a digital output or using one of the stereo audio outputs as a tone control signal.

No speakers work

When you plug an audio cable into the radio's PHONES output jack, the radio's speakers are shut off. When you plug an audio cable into the laptop's HEADSET connector, the laptop's speakers are shut off. External speakers need to be part of the audio interconnect solution. Another option is to use Bluetooth speakers at the laptop or use a USB audio interface for connections instead of the laptop's HEADSET connector.

Persistent settings cleared

Modern browsers have features to permit settings to be stored in memory upon closing the application, however, the user action of "clearing browser history for all time" or "clearing recent history and offline website data" or setting those actions to occur upon closing the browser will delete those settings.

Some features tax battery life

Microphone operation, Waterfall display and maintaining server connection options are power consuming features that can shorten time until battery charging is needed. This is important when using a remote phone with small battery.

Can't use Voice Over

Voice Over is incompatible with RadioRemote operation as the voice messages interfere with received or transmitted audio. Tell Siri "Turn off Voice Over". Use Audio Mode as an alternative voice interface for RadioRemote. Other operating system sounds may also interfere with operation.

Windows difficultiy installing nodejs tools

Nodejs installed OK but the install script failed to install Chocolatey. (No time to debug yet.)
